Counselor Supervision

Counselor Supervision

Are you a recent master’s level graduate in the field of counseling? Is it your goal to become Licensed as either a Professional Counselor (LPC) or Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of South Carolina? First, congratulations on your journey so far!

In South Carolina, new clinicians are formally known as “associates” (LPCA or LMFTA) and must accrue a certain number of clinical hours over a minimum two-year process. During these years, you are required to experience a total of 1500 total clinical hours:

  • 120 hours must be meeting for clinical “supervision” with an approved supervisor
  • The remaining 1,380 hours consist of your direct counseling experience with clients

During your years as an “Associate,” most clinicians spend about 1-2 hours per week in supervision.

Jonathan Kittel LPC/S, LMFT/S is an approved clinical supervisor for those seeking LPC or LMFT licensure in South Carolina. He provides individual, triadic and group supervision, depending on availability and demand. If you are interested in learning more about the supervision process, please reach out to Jonathan.
