Margaret Kay Ko, LPC/A

Hello, I’m Margaret Kay.
I believe one of the most satisfying and important things in life is healthy relationships. Having this value influenced my career path into counseling. I love walking with and supporting individuals through life’s challenges. My areas of focus include supporting and championing the family unit, working with children through creative and therapeutic modalities, and supporting teens, young adults and women through life’s major stressors.
Background
Most of my educational training and professional experience includes providing family centered, therapeutic care to children ages 0-18. I served as a child life specialist, providing medical play-based therapy and education to families impacted by medically related challenges. In this setting, I relied heavily on child-lead play therapy techniques to help children process trauma and difficulty surrounded by their hospitalization. I also served as a behavioral interventionist, supporting young children and their families in reaching their unique, specific developmental and emotional goals. Currently, I am also a school-based counselor serving high school youth and families. I focus on college and career readiness and the process of transitioning into young adulthood.

Personal Qualities
My favorite thing to do is spend time with my husband and two sons. They are such a blessing to me! We love to play, read, travel, and just be goofy together. I have been a runner for almost all my life. Running has been a great way for me to de-stress and reflect on the day. Because of God’s faithfulness and kindness to me, I strive to live a life of faith.
